Turning Matabeleland Green (TMG) is a vision casting , training and practical support initiative with the aim of helping farmers realize their productive potential, creating an environment where farmers can really start to dream. In addition, the sessions contain practical training on aspects of tomato, broiler & layer production, along with an introduction to business planning. Over 13,000 farmers and community leaders have been trained through TMG and this is creating a real momentum and buzz. We have also set up a business school in Bulawayo which gives more intensive, directed training in key areas which over the years we have realized are critical to a small scale farmer’s success. To date hundreds of farmers have attended at least one training session. 

Recently we renovated the building which houses the business school and we are excited about the growth potential this will unlock. We have established Hamara Farmer / Higrow retail outlets in Bulawayo, Gweru, Victoria Falls & Zvishavane with agents in Harare, Chiredzi, Gwanda and Beitbridge. These outlets are set up to provide training, support and inputs to farmers, stimulating production and filling the local demand. 

On top of this we have many famers who are contracted directly in chicken production. These farmers also model what can be done and have been inspirational in the training seminars we have done. We also have key farmers contracted to grow tomatoes and other crops in the Maphisa, Montgomery, Inyathi and Zhulube irrigation schemes
